This is a chessboard in its most traditional form. No epoxy, no modern shortcuts. This is a work of classic joinery, brought to life with the essential tools of the artisan: a saw, precise clamps, and a sander. It's a testament to the simple, timeless beauty of wood.
This is a purist's board, featuring no algebraic notation to distract from the clean, geometric lines of the playing field.
The board is crafted from a striking combination of two distinct woods: the deep, rich tones of American Walnut for the dark squares and the light, creamy contrast of Samba (Ayous) wood for the light squares. The entire piece is meticulously hand-sanded and sealed with a natural wax coating, giving it a subtle, tactile sheen that begs to be touched and protects the wood.
While this model features Walnut and Samba, I am happy to create a bespoke version for you in other wood species to perfectly match your interior. Custom sizes and personalized laser engraving are also available. Just send me a message with your idea.
This offer is for the chessboard only. The 3-inch chess pieces shown in the photos are for scale and are not included. They can be ordered separately (our pieces are sourced from quality suppliers in India).

We also create resin inlays and wood combinations (intarsia).

Lead Time
We are a small workshop, not a big factory. Every board is handmade with care specifically for you.
Current production time for wall-mounted boards is around 1 month. However, timing can vary slightly depending on our workload. If you need your order for a specific occasion, please send us an email – we’ll do our best to help!
