Global Delivery & Safety

Shipping Costs & Customs Duties

Your exact shipping cost is calculated automatically at checkout — no need to contact us first. For a growing number of destinations, we've also taken care of import duties on our side, so what you see at checkout really is the final price, with nothing more to pay when your order arrives.

Where this isn't yet the case, standard customs rules may apply depending on your country — this is shown clearly before you pay, never as a surprise later. If you're ever unsure, or ordering something unusually large or heavy, just ask us — we're happy to check and confirm before you order.

Returns & Satisfaction

We strive for 100% satisfaction.
As an art workshop, we want you to love your chess set. However, please note the distinction between our products:

  • Bespoke & Personalized Items: Because these pieces are crafted specifically to your order (custom size, wood, engraving), they are not eligible for return. They are made exclusively for you.
  • Standard Items: Regular products can be returned within 14 days of delivery without giving a reason. In this case, the buyer covers the return shipping costs.

Brutalist Walnut Chess Table — Live Edge Slab with Epoxy Resin Chessboard

One trunk. One table. One owner.

This is a heavyweight, sculptural chess table carved from a single solid walnut slab — finished with a signature CNC-routed ChessboArt epoxy chessboard and full alphanumeric notation. Not mass-produced. Not replicated. This exact table spent nearly three months in the ChessboArt workshop and will never be made again.

Designed and handcrafted by FM Michał Fudalej — FIDE Master, chess enthusiast, and founder of ChessboArt.

From Tree to Playing Surface — The Making

The raw walnut trunk was air-dried naturally for approximately three years before entering our workshop. Only then was it planed flat and prepared for CNC routing — a process that carved a full tournament-spec ChessboArt chessboard directly into the slab, with complete alphanumeric notation around the perimeter.

The entire surface was then deep-impregnated with epoxy resin and left to cure under controlled conditions. After hardening, we ran a second round of precision planing, resin filling, multi-stage sanding and lacquer finishing. The result is a massive, characterful piece of furniture that retains every curve and texture of the live edge — while delivering a perfectly flat, tournament-grade playing surface.

Who Is This Table For?

This piece is built for anyone who wants chess to define a room — not just sit in one. The natural live edge, deep walnut grain and contrasting epoxy board make it a centrepiece long before the first move is played.

Perfect for:

  • >A dedicated chess or game room >A home office, library or loft living space >A hotel lobby, private club or corporate boardroom >A collector looking for a functional piece of furniture art >A truly extraordinary gift for a chess player or design lover

Why a Chess Player Will Appreciate It

The 38 mm square size meets tournament standards — so this table is not just decorative, it plays. The CNC-engraved notation is precise and permanent, not painted or stickered. The multi-stage epoxy finish creates a surface that is smooth, flat and consistent across the entire board. It was built by someone who plays chess, for people who play chess.

One of One

This is the only example of this table in existence. Once it finds its home, it is gone. If you are interested in commissioning a similar piece — a custom live-edge walnut chess table designed around your space, dimensions and preferences — contact us directly. We will prepare an individual design and quote.
